Seat GAP Insurance

Seat has been selling cars in Britain since the 1980s, and an Ibiza still loses value the moment it leaves the forecourt. Seat GAP insurance, arranged by Insureworks and underwritten by specialist insurers, may help reduce the financial impact of that depreciation.

Seat GAP Insurance Explained

  • May help protect the price you paid for your Seat, rather than what it is worth on the day of a claim.

  • Available on Seat cars up to ten years old, bought within the last 180 days, priced from £5,000.

  • Cash, PCP, hire purchase or lease. Cover may be arranged whichever route you took to the keys.

  • Once a Seat GAP claim is accepted, settlement follows the policy terms and the insurer's process.

Seat Models Our Insurers Can Cover

Seat has been selling cars in Britain since the 1980s, and our insurers can offer Seat GAP insurance from Ibiza and Leon hatchbacks to Arona, Ateca and Tarraco SUVs. Whether you paid in full, chose PCP, signed a lease agreement or found a used Seat with a few miles already behind it, we can help you compare cover.

GAP insurance doesn’t care if you’re leasing. We can still arrange cover. A write-off could leave you with more than an empty driveway. If you’re comparing Seat GAP coverage lease options, our insurers may be able to help cover the shortfall between your motor insurance payout and the amount still due under your lease agreement. Seat Ibiza, Mii

Small hatchbacks that have taught plenty of drivers the basics. First cars and city runabouts.

Seat Leon

Family hatchbacks and estates built for commutes, school runs and the mileage that adds up quietly.

Seat Arona, Ateca

Compact SUVs for drivers who wanted an Ibiza or Leon but fancied sitting higher up.

Seat Tarraco, Alhambra

Seven-seat SUVs and people carriers for full boots, longer journeys and families using every seat.

Seat Leon e-Hybrid, Tarraco e-Hybrid

Seat's plug-in hybrid models, pairing a familiar engine with a battery that does the short runs.

Choose The Right Seat GAP Insurance For You

Whether your Seat is a brand-new Tarraco or an Ibiza that has already covered a few thousand miles, our insurance providers may have an RTI GAP option available. Following an accepted total-loss claim, it could help reduce the financial difference between your motor insurer’s settlement and the original invoice price, subject to the policy terms and claim limit. Which policy suits you depends on how you bought the car and what you would like the cover to protect.

New & Used

Fresh plate, or already run in?

Depreciation affects new and used cars alike, so GAP could help protect the price you paid. Cover is available on vehicles up to ten years old, bought within the last 180 days, priced from £5,000.

Petrol & Diesel

Petrol and diesel, still dropping.

GAP could help reduce the financial impact if an eligible vehicle is written off or stolen, subject to the policy terms and the claim limit shown in your schedule. Seat is rated non-prestige by the underwriter.

Hybrids

Plug it in, keep the engine.

For hybrid versions of models such as the Leon and Tarraco, Seat GAP insurance could help protect the eligible invoice price paid for the vehicle, subject to the terms and limits set out in your policy.

Lease & Contract Hire

Cover built around the agreement.

Contract Hire and Lease GAP is built around the settlement balance of the agreement rather than the invoice price, and it carries no electric vehicle price restriction. What it pays is set by the terms and the claim limit in your schedule.

GAP Insurance for Seat

Seat has been selling cars in Britain since the 1980s, and whichever Seat ends up on your driveway, it shares one thing with every other car on the road: depreciation. A car bought new can be worth noticeably less within a year, and a standard motor policy pays the market value on the day of the claim rather than the price on the invoice. Seat GAP insurance is designed to help with that difference, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions and limits of the policy, and to the claim limit shown in your schedule.

Why Use Insureworks To Arrange Seat GAP Insurance

Insureworks arranges Seat GAP cover underwritten by specialist insurers, and the eligibility rules sit on the page rather than buried in a document. Your Seat needs to be under ten years old, bought within the last 180 days, and invoiced between £5,000 and £125,000. Vehicles previously declared a total loss, and vehicles on motor trade insurance, are not eligible at all. We would rather you knew that before starting a quote than after. This page is information, not advice, and no assessment of whether the cover suits your circumstances is made here.

How Seat GAP Insurance Works

  • Your Seat is written off or stolen, and it is time to make a Seat GAP insurance claim on the policy.
  • Your motor insurer pays the market value, which is what the car is worth today rather than what you paid.
  • If your Seat GAP claim is accepted, GAP may top that up towards the agreed level, depending on the policy terms.
  • You get back on the road. The payout may help you replace the Seat or clear the outstanding finance agreement.

My Porsche Taycan 4S GAP Insurance Claim

The Challenge In July 2023, I was involved in an accident that left my car a total write-off. The vehicle was just over 12 months old, and like most cars, it had already depreciated in value. The main insurer’s payout offer wouldn’t have even covered the outstanding finance. This would’ve left me with a nasty […]

Seat GAP Insurance FAQs

We know you might have questions, here are the four we hear at Insureworks all the time.

GAP is not a legal requirement, but drivers often consider it when leasing. If a leased Seat is written off or stolen, there may still be an amount due under the finance agreement after your motor insurer has paid out. GAP may help cover some or all of that shortfall, depending on the policy terms. Contract hire and lease agreements also carry no electric vehicle price restriction.

Your Seat needs to be no more than ten years old when you apply, bought within the last 180 days, with an invoice price between £5,000 and £125,000. Cars previously written off, and vehicles on motor trade insurance, are not eligible. There is no mileage limit on the policy, so a high-mileage car is not a problem. Vehicles used as taxis, for driving lessons, hire, courier work, racing or off-road driving are also excluded.

No. Seat is rated non-prestige by the underwriter, which is the lower of the two pricing tiers, so a Seat costs less to cover than a car from a prestige make. Electric models are rated separately and carry the £50,000 vehicle price limit on PCP and cash purchases.

If your Seat is stolen or written off, GAP insurance may help cover some or all of the difference between your motor insurer’s payout and what you originally paid, or what you still owe on finance. What applies to you is set by the policy terms and the claim limit shown in your schedule, so both are worth reading. If your motor insurer does not settle the claim, the GAP policy will not pay out either.
