Vehicles Covered and Eligibility?
- Vehicles covered: one of a car (seating no more than 7), or a lightweight commercial vehicle not exceeding 3500kg gross vehicle weight.
- Initial Eligibility is the same for both policies and all vehicles (see later question: Are there any Additional Eligibility Criteria for these RTI GAP Policies?) :
- Applicants must be the registered owner or keeper of the motor vehicle and the vehicle must have a comprehensive motor insurance policy in your name or in the name of an authorised driver throughout the coverage period. This means that a vehicle owned by a company would be covered.
- Vehicles must not be more than 10 years old at the time of application.
- VVehicle purchase invoice prices must be no lower than £5,000 and no more than £125,000 (including VAT unless you are VAT registered); however the maximum value for EV vehicles is restricted to £50,000 (except in the case of Contract Hire & Lease GAP where there is no restriction made for EVs as above).
- Mileage – there is no restriction on the amount of miles your vehicle has on its odometer
- GAP Applications must be made within 180 days from date of vehicle purchase.
- Vehicles insured under a motor trade insurance policy will be excluded.
- The vehicle has not been declared a Total Loss or write-off before.
- EVs: maximum vehicle value of £50,000 excluding contract hire policies.
